Mechanical Engineering Technician

We are excited about our new generation on site welding capability that now requires an experienced Mechanical Engineering Technician to come on board and provide project supervision for site installation projects.  This role will require significant travel across New Zealand working on a range of projects for various clients – reliability, motivation and flexibility are key!


What you will be doing:

  • Supervising engineering staff on site at new or expanding manufacturing plants across various industries
  • Working with innovative automated onsite technology
  • Able to maximise automated welding equipment on projects – including welding on site with the ability to conduct maintenance and repairs as required.
  • Travel with the machine to each project on customer sites, supervise the set-up, spiral weld process and decommissioning of the machine
  • Responsible for machine preparation, planning of equipment and maintenance
  • Ensuring any tanks produced are to the quality standards required by the client
  • Complete all required health and safety training
  • Extensive and frequent travel across New Zealand
  • Have a mechanical mindset of how to construct using stainless steel in the field/onsite, resolve any problems and come up with solutions

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Diploma in Manufacturing Project Planning or significant experience in onsite stainless-steel fabrication and installation
  • 4+ years’ experience in the Engineering industry
  • Extensive experience in onsite supervision of fabrication and installation of stainless-steel products across a range of industries
  • Able to read and interpret drawings and plans
  • Excellent technical ability and attention to detail
  • Experience working with automation technology
  • Strong communication skills
  • Project Supervision experience, particularly for onsite installation projects
  • Experience managing teams

 

Position Details:

  • Employment type:      Full-time, permanent role
  • Hours/ Days of work:  Minimum of 40 hours per week - will require overtime & travel away from home
  • Pay Rate:                   $45.00 – $50.00 per hour
