Stores Supervisor – Hamilton

Are you an organised, hands-on leader who understands the pace and practical demands of an engineering environment? Tīra Group is looking for a customer-focused Stores Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operation of our Hamilton Stores. This is a practical role based in our Stores, supporting engineering, fabrication and site operations through hands-on supervision, accurate inventory control, inwards and outwards goods, yard coordination and equipment sales support.
About the role
Reporting to the Manager – Hamilton, you will supervise two Stores staff members and ensure materials, consumables, tooling and equipment are received, stored, issued and dispatched safely, accurately and on time. You will work closely with production, project, workshop and support teams to keep engineering work moving, while improving inventory performance and service to internal and external customers.
Key responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day supervision, support and guidance to two direct reports
- Oversee inwards goods, receipting, storage, issuing, packaging, freight and dispatch activities.
- Maintain accurate ERP transactions, documentation and inventory records.
- Manage stock levels, cycle counts, stock variances and slow-moving or obsolete inventory.
- Communicate material availability, delivery constraints and dispatch priorities to project, workshop and production teams.
- Coordinate yard and laydown activities, forklift operations and facility maintenance requirements.
- Manage hazardous goods storage, information and relevant site compliance requirements.
- Support equipment sales by responding to enquiries, maintaining listings and records, coordinating pre-sale work, and arranging collection or delivery.
- Work within safety systems
- Identify and implement practical continuous improvement opportunities across Stores operations.
About you
- Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, inventory or materials management role, ideally within an engineering, manufacturing, fabrication or industrial environment.
- Experience supervising or guiding others in a practical operational environment.
- Sound inventory management and stock-control knowledge.
- Experience using an ERP system and confidence with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Strong administration, organisation and time-management skills.
- A methodical approach, excellent attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
- A customer-focused communication style and the ability to build effective internal and external relationships.
- A full driver licence and current Forklift OSH Certificate (with F endorsement an advantage)
- A proactive approach to safety, problem-solving and continuous improvement.
